PHOBIAS

A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder that causes an individual to experience extreme, irrational fear about a situation, living creature, place, or object. There tends to be a lot of avoidance in what they consider to be dangerous and they imagine the threat is greater than any actual threat posed by the cause of fear. There is a lot of experience of intense distress when thinking about the source of their phobia. Anyone experiencing a phobia can work with a therapist to help reduce the physical and physiological signs of anxiety that can accompany the phobia. Most phobias can be cured with appropriate treatment. There is no single treatment that works for every person and treatment should be tailored to the individual in order for it to work.
