If you've ever been into a therapists office who practices EMDR or Brainspotting, you have probably heard this phrase, "worst or first?" In this video, you will learn why this phrase is important in finding the appropriate target for trauma processing. It can feel overwhelming to figure out where to start, particularly if someone has endured a lot of trauma throughout their lifespan. "Worst or first" is an easier way to help narrow down what it is that you'd want to work on, and to help organize the processing moving forward. Sometimes it is easiest to focus on either the biggest or the worst experience that you've had – the one that changed the course of your life forever whereas other times, it feels more appropriate and relevant to start in the early life experiences – the first. The defining moments in life experiences throughout childhood.
